Small carved and lacquered altar table

A small altar table, a beautiful Chinese antique from Ningbo. It was made in the late 19th Century. It has four drawers, wide at the top and bottom with two smaller drawers in between. The plain top has curved edges and contrasts well with the intricate carving on the front, which is lacquered in red and black lacquer. It is made from Chinese elm.
