Pair of intricately carved antique silk panelled lanterns

A pair of beautiful delicately carved lanterns with silk panels. An exquisite example of Chinese carving at its best. They come from the coastal area of China and were made in the late 19th Century. They can be illuminated with candles or adapted for electric lights. They hang from a strong hook at the top. The silk is not original. Only one is shown so that the detail can be seen in the photograph.
