Pair of antique door carvings from a large door

Chinese door carvings from the top of a very large door. They would have been used on a huge external door at a temple or ancestral hall. They held the door in place. These carvings are exquisitely worked and then treated with gold and  red cinnabar lacquer. This carving shows dragons. They are a pair and made in the mid 19th century and are mounted on a modern stand to display them at their best. They form a stunning display to any home. They come from Southern China.
