Chinese antique lacquered wedding basket

An exquisite octagonal pine antique Chinese wedding basket. The basket was made in the mid 19th Century in Ningbo province in China. It was made from pine and bamboo. It has been lacquered and beautifully decorated. There is a brass handle for hanging it from a pole at the top. Food was placed inside and then the whole basket would have been steamed to heat the food.
