Large Chinese Wedding Basket

A large beautifully lacquered and decorated large antique Chinese wedding basket made in the mid 19th Century in Ningbo made from Pine and Bamboo. This is a tiered basket, and the tiers separate. It makes ideal storage especially for CD’s or items for crafts and hobbies.  At the top of the handle is a large ring for carrying the basket on a pole. The basket would have contained food and the whole thing would have been steamed to heat the food. As a result few have lasted to this day and so this piece has become quite rare.
